Liposuction is a surgical procedure intended to remove fat deposits and shape the body. Fat is removed from under the skin with the use of a vacuum-suction canula (a hollow pen-like instrument) or using an ultrasonic probe that breaks upthe fat into small pieces, it then removes the fat with the suction.Persons with localized fat may decide to have liposuction to remove fat from that area. Liposuction is a procedure for shaping the body .Liposuction may be performed on the abdomen, hips, thighs, calves, arms, buttocks, back, neck, or face. A liposuction procedure may include more than one site, for instance, the abdomen, back, and thighs all on the same day.Liposuction is also used to reduce breast size in men with large breasts (gynecomastia) or to remove fat tumors (lipomas) but it is most commonly used for cosmetic body shaping. It is best to have liposuction preformed by a Plastic Surgeon.People of normal weight and in generally good shape who have a few trouble spots make the best candidates, because their skin is firm and elastic. If the skin is not elastic enough, it will remain baggy after the procedure. For this reason, older patients may not see the same type of results as younger patients. The time required to perform liposuction may vary considerably, depending on the size of the area, and the amount of fat being removed.

Liposuction is a procedure in which localized deposits of fat are removed to recontour one or more areas of the body. Through a tiny incision, a narrow tube or cannula is inserted and used to vacuum the fat layer that lies deep beneath the skin. The cannula is pushed then pulled through the fat layer, breaking up the fat cells and suctioning them out. The suction action is provided by a vacuum pump or a large syringe, depending on the surgeon’s preference. If many sites are being treated, your surgeon will then move on to the next area, working to keep the incisions as inconspicuous as possible.
